Dear Editor:
I want to start off by saying that I think Farmer’s Markets are the best thing to happen since pasteurization.
The quality of food, atmosphere, friendly people and cultural diversity is a welcome outing for Saturday mornings.
Even before official Farmer Markets, there were roadside fruit and vegetable stands. I have partaken of all and would still if mostly old age, a very curtailed income and numerous other circumstances had not interceded.
I now am eligible for food assistance through the EBT system. I would dearly love to spend my food allowance at a Farmers Market, but I cannot afford to.
I have had to substitute quantity for quality. The local markets offer produce at a much cheaper price.
It is too bad this situation exists, but I realize, as do most people, that our local producers work hard and long to offer this quality product.
Not to worry, I will make a trip or two, at least, for some local, vine-ripened tomatoes.

Dear Editor:
This letter has been a long time coming.
The way I see it, the cuts need to come as follows:
1. Congress cuts their pay 50 percent. And, yes, they should have higher taxes.
2. Open factories, military bases, put nurses, open training programs.
3. Lower the price of schools so people can afford an education. After all, the people of tomorrow will soon be the leaders of today.
4. The criminals that are on death row for unspeakable crimes should be delt with. Let’s see — lethal injections, electric chairs and hanging should do it.
5. Build back the U.S.A. there once was.
This was the finest nation in the world. Just hope it’s not too late.
