Two properties, both off of Riverside Avenue in Anderson, have been getting lots of attention from real estate brokers in recent weeks. According to Kristen Maze, development services director for the city of Anderson, Camping World is in the process of negotiations for the never-occupied building slated for a Kenworth dealership on Auto Mall Drive.

“Nothing has been finalized,” Maze reported via email.

A check of Camping World’s web site reveals 11 job openings posted for the Redding area. The 37,776 building sits next to the B&B RV Center, and has been empty since its initial construction in 2008.

Camping World is the nation’s largest retailer of RV supplies, accessories, services and new and used RVs, according to their web site. An e-mail sent to the company’s national headquarters was not immediately returned.

There has also been interest in the foreclosed Gaia Hotel.

“Jeff (Kiser) and I have met with one group,” said Maze, “and I have received calls from a few other developer types that are interested and asking questions about what the city thinks will work.”

Also according to Maze, the developers she has spoken to are either adding to the existing use (hotel/restaurant) or completely changing the use.

“Once there is an owner,” said Maze, “we will know more, but right now they are all gathering information before anyone makes an offer.”
