The owners of Anderson’s only collective, the Green Heart, might have suffered their first set back. On Jan. 6, Shasta County Superior Court Judge Stephen Baker upheld the city’s ordinance prohibiting marijuana collectives and gave operators of the Green Heart seven days to appeal his decision.
“If the Appellate Court denies the appeal,” said Interim Chief of Police Shawn Watts in a recent press release, “any operation of a collective after Jan. 9 will be in violation of the court’s order.”
The City of Anderson lost an initial skirmish on Tuesday, Nov. 22, when Judge Baker denied the city’s emergency request for a temporary restraining order to close the medical marijuana collective operating in spite of a city zoning ordinance banning such businesses.
“We are still open. We are still providing medicine to our clients,” said collective owner Gina Munday via cell phone on Nov. 22.
