Focused on doing his best in his final high school season, Anderson senior Spencer Larsen has set some high goals for himself, one’s he hopes to achieve.

“I want to the best I can and I’ve made state a goal, and would like to be a section champ in my class,” said Larsen, 18.

He said he will miss the hotel stays and the teammate bond.

According to Larsen, Coach Don Williams has helped him a lot during his high school wrestling career. He added that former Anderson wrestler Marcus Zachary has also helped him.

“Marcus comes into the room and pushes me to work harder,” explained Larsen.

Larsen, who has been an All-League and All-Division wrestler, as well as a two time Master placer, said he enjoys the focus the sport takes.

“You go hard start to finish and really can’t blame anyone else for the outcome,” said Larsen. “The last two years have been a form of worship, if that makes any sense. I just try to give the glory to God.”

Disciple and leadership are two life skills Larsen said the sport has really helped him with, adding that even though it isn’t a team sport, everyone still encourages each other.

Larsen said he wants to go to Simpson University and wrestle under Coach Williams when the high school coach makes the transition next year.

The wrestler said he wants to be a teacher, but also has an interest in psychology.
